Buffet and China to Introduce Chinese Electric Car Into The U.S.

Definition: Smoke and Mirrors: Trickery and deception, often in a political context...the obscuring or embellishing of the truth that is employed by spin doctors and the like in order to deceive the general public.

In 2009 Reuters reported that Chinese Electric Car Company BYD Ltd. was planning to introduce the Chinese version of the Chevy Volt into the U.S. auto market. Buffet who is invested to the tune of $232 million dollars, seems immune to the fact that the Chinese version was developed from stolen GM technology. According to the article:

BYD's questionable behavior went beyond copying designs, though. According to the consulate, the company also sold some vehicles almost at cost to boost its market share and may have advertised safety ratings for one model it did not have. The year before the Wall Street Journal's Market Watch reported that Buffet's investment was made in secret. However more importantly Market Watch also reported:

"BYD represents a growth story based on as-yet unproven technologies."

That should of course bring to the forefront the issue of consumer safety a fact seemingly not included in any of the routine Chinese business models.

Secondly the car, despite obfuscation to the contrary, will be built in China though Buffet and the Chinese claim otherwise. That however may be the biggest part of this fraud. The battery for the cars will be made and installed in the U.S. thereby, according to EPA and Federal Trade Commission guidelines, allows the car to be labeled as being "built in the USA."

On October 24, 2011 the Huffington Post reported: Chinese electric car maker BYD Co. opened its North American headquarters on Monday, a move that officials said could bring hundreds of jobs and provide a U.S. hub for sales and research..... The report went on to quote L.A. Mayor Antonio "Reconquesta" Villaraigosa, who said: The opening will be "a catalyst that ushers in good jobs, global investment and a more sustainable future." However, the next month Bloomberg.com in an article reported "Buffet - Backed Car Maker Arrives In L.A. Late With Fewer Jobs" .... In April 2010 when the deal was announced, BYD said it would open the office by the end of 2010, and have 150 employees by the end of this year. It now has 20 employees in Los Angeles, with plans to reach 30 by year-end and 100 by the end of 2012, according to Micheal Austin, the company’s U.S. vice president. Perhaps most egregious of all is the the EPA has given BYD $ 115 million dollars in U.S. taxpayer monies to fund Buffet's investment. Karzai Govenment Alleges U.S. Prisoner Abuse

An Afghan Government commission is alleging that U.S. Guards at the Bagram prison outside of Kabul, are mistreating detainees - the very same Al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists who are bombing and killing Afghan civilians as well as U.S. and NATO coalition soldiers. Karzai has demanded an immediate turnover of the facility to the Afghan government . The problem for the U.S. is that the Karzai government has a history of releasing terrorist suspects in their custody who go right back to creating more mayhem and bloodshed in the country. So the question is why are we even there? WM

Afghan Commission Accuses U.S. of Detainee Abuse

KABUL, Afghanistan—An Afghan investigative commission accused the American military Saturday of abuse at its main prison in the country, repeating President Hamid Karzai's demand that the U.S. turn over all detainees to Afghan custody and saying anyone held without evidence should be freed. The demands put the U.S. and the Afghan governments on a collision course in an issue that will decide the fate of hundreds of suspected Taliban and al-Qaida operators captured by American forces. The head of the Afghan investigation said U.S. officials told him many of those militant suspects were taken based on intelligence that can't be used in Afghan courts. The dispute that has unfolded in recent days recreates many of the thorny issues surrounding the controversial U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay. There, as at the prison in Afghanistan, American forces are holding many detainees without charging them with a specific crime or presenting evidence in a civil court. Detainees interviewed during two visits to the U.S.-run portion of the prison outside Bagram Air Base north of Kabul complained of freezing cold, humiliating strip searches and being deprived of light, according to Gul Rahman Qazi, who led the investigation ordered by President Karzai. Fusion Centers – Where Reality Meets Orwell’s 1984

While reading through some articles on Homeland Security intelligence gathering protocols I came across a Fox News article titled , ’Fusion Centers’ Expand Criteria to Identify Militia Members. According to the article’s author, “If you are an anti-abortion, (activist), or if you display paraphernalia supporting a third party candidate or support a certain Republican member of Congress, if you possess subversive literature, you might very well be a member of a domestic paramilitary group.” (I thought this a perhaps bit of an extreme assessment until I began researching further.) The article explains that following 9/11 the Homeland Security Department reasoned that not only did we have to be sensitive to international terrorism but also domestic terrorism, in this case “militia groups” that might threaten our internal security. (There was no mention of home grown Islamic terrorist groups.) The result was the establishment in 2004, of government funded Fusion Centers as a way to provide a clearing house for domestic intelligence gathering. Profiles were developed to look at the characteristics of individuals most likely to join or militia groups and also of those individuals who would be most prone to act out violent scenarios against the government. In order to provide oversight to curb any protocol violations a review group section was established within Homeland Security called Privacy Impact Assessment. In it’s initial report in the DHS Guide: State, Local and Regional Fusion Center Initiative, (page iii), the Privacy Impact Assessment Group concluded that ”Despite oversight efforts – the Privacy Office has identified a number of risks to privacy presented by the fusion center programs,” as follows: 1. Justification for fusion centers 2. Ambiguous Lines of authority, Rules and Oversight 3. Participation of the Military and The Private sector 4. Data Mining 5. Excessive Secrecy 6. Inaccurate or Incomplete Information 7. Mission Creep The Private Impact Assessment Group report also implied, ( pg. iv) of the guide, that there needs to be better training of fusion center personnel. To further prove a point on the danger posed by the current administration’s selective interpretation of the Fusion Center’s protocol, the Missouri Information Analysis Center, (MIAC), (a government collective that identifies warning signs of potential domestic terrorists for law enforcement communities), released an internal classified report titled , ‘The Modern Militia Movement,’ which stated: “Due to the current economic situation, a lush environment for militia activity has been created,” the report also said that persons who supported “third party candidates” were anti-abortion, against gun control and who supported alternative political figures, (IE , the Libertarian Party, candidates Ron Paul, (R) Texas and Bob Barr, (R) Ga. - cited in the report ), shared common characteristics with militia members. (Reps Ron Paul and Bob Barr confronted the MAIC to have their names removed from this report.) (The leaked document has been reclassified and any link to the report has been removed.) The ACLU a statement released and titled, “What's Wrong with Fusion Centers – Executive Summary”, December 5, 2007, said, “These new fusion centers, over 40, that have been established around the country, raise very serious privacy issues at a time when new technology, government power and zeal in the ‘war on terrorism’ are combining to threaten Americans’ privacy at an unprecedented level.” (I have for the most part looked with disdain that the ACLU, but this report is on the money, so much so that myself as well as many of you, may fit the profile of a ‘domestic terrorist’ by questioning or challenging this administrations radical socialist agenda.) Initially idea of these fusion centers made sense. when first established during the Bush administration. Now the fusion centers have morphed into a useful tool by the current crop of liberals who will use any means necessary to derail anyone in opposition to their radical socialist agenda. Global Warming – Same Ole’ Story

The following was sent me by a distant relative in Texas. Amazingly it reminds me of the harsh winter of 1971 - 1972 where we had snow in the local mountains just after Halloween. It was continually cold and wet for the next four months. I am of course talking about Southern California. Time Magazine, environmentalists and their fellow travelers hysterically claimed a coming ice age - civilization as we knew would be wiped out. It happened again in the winter of 1974-75. In between and in following years we had the same varience of natural climate cycles. With that said we might look at the current crop of doomsayers as rediculous and uninformed and those who are pushing the so called 'green agenda' as nothing more than greedy bastards cashing in on a false hysteria. Just my opinion....WM

Sadly, lying by government officials, of both parties - all administrations, would seem the mainstay to not only attain but too hold on to political power. Eric Holder, like his boss, is a practiced liar. The Terry family has every right to publicly state what all the pundits, pols and partisan media are afraid to say. The old saying if it smells....then somebody has definitely stepped in something foul. Obama should call for the resignation, if not outright firing of this poor excuse of an Attorney General. Brian Terry was Marine who, unlike that socialist cretin currently soiling the bed sheets at the White House, served with honor and distinction - an American hero who put his life on the line, for all of us....Semper Fi brother - RIP....WM

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry died almost one year ago. Despite almost daily headlines about the ongoing scandal in the Obama administration, his devastated parents have said nothing publicly about the U.S. program that helped provide the weapons that killed their son. ...Until now. In separate interviews, Josephine and Kent Terry lashed out Thursday at those they blame for Brian's murder -- Attorney General Eric Holder, his top assistant Lanny Breuer, former U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, and those ATF officials who approved, executed and supervised Operation Fast and Furious. "I think they are liars and I would tell them that," said Kent Terry from his home in central Michigan. "What would I say to Eric Holder? They would not be nice words." Terry is in his 70's, paralyzed and bound to a chair after an accident 17 years ago. His former wife Josephine lives 90 minutes north near Detroit. "If they never let the guns walk, maybe Brian would not have been out that day," Josephine said. "I just can't believe our own government came up with a program like this that (let) innocent people get killed." The Terrys watched Holder's appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Asked if he wanted to apologize to the family, Holder declined, saying only he regretted what happened. "That shows what kind of a person he is," Kent lamented. "To me, he is not much of a person. I don't know if he has a son. But if he lost his, he would think different." "I sat in a chair and cried," Josephine said. "It was so inhumane. An apology to anybody means at least they are trying to fix it. He didn't." Blasted for his response, Holder did send the Terrys a letter Wednesday saying he was sorry for their loss. The letter was released to the press before the Terrys received it. While Holder chided Congress for "gotcha games" and "political finger pointing" in its investigation, the family disagrees. They say no administration official ever explained why the ATF knowingly sold guns to criminals. Josephine also claims former U.S. Attorney Burke intentionally misled her, saying in March the whistleblowers' claims were "false," when documents show he knew their claims were true. "Dennis Burke came up to my house and he said, 'No, none of them guns killed Brian. None of them'." Burke, whose office directed the operation, resigned in September. Kent, a former auto machinist, shared a love of cars with his son. When Brian died he shipped his 2006 Corvette from Arizona to Michigan where it sits, untouched, in the garage. The car is immaculate, except for a black smudge on the driver's seat. "That's where his gun rubbed against the leather," Kent said. "I can see him, as I did that day he came home, with the sun shinning in his hair. How do I get closure? I go out to his car. I have a tough time going to the cemetery. He is not supposed to be there. I am. Nobody wants to outlive their son." He said he struggles with the death to this day. "It's just hard.
