New counter terrorism guidelines would permit data on U.S. citizens to be held longer

The above titled piece appeared today in the Washington Post. It is an enhancement to the original protocol to keep files on potential “home grown” terror suspects specifically radical Muslims  and other  known extremist groups.  Currently, the center must promptly destroy any information about U.S. citizens or residents unless a connection to terrorism is evident. [1]

Unfortunately once the Obama regime took power, DHS Director Janet Napolitano at the behest of the White House, shifted focus from Islamic terrorists and extremists to include innocent American citizens in opposition to White House policies. The protocol was so vague the description now includes the Tea Party, Conservatives and a host of other organizations as meeting that criteria.

This action is dangerous for a myriad of reasons but most importantly it puts innocent American citizens at risk, losing their  right to privacy as well as being under threat for expressing their opinions protected under the First Amendment.

I wrote an article sometime back title “Fusion Centers – Where Reality Meets George Orwell’s 1984,” describing the function of the Fusion Centers and the danger they posed if their original mission was compromised. It would seem that is now in the process of happening. [2]

This new enhancement would seem to indicate an incremental expansion of not only the current regime being able to hold us hostage, but worse, having the potential of a future regime further subverting Fusion Centers to their own agendas.

I have no doubt that many of the ignorant and under-educated will see this as protecting them from future terrorist threats – after all they elected what is now, while only in it’s infancy, a quasi-socialist regime.

And we will safeguard America’s own security against those who threaten our citizens, our friends, and our interests. Look at Iran. Through the power of our diplomacy, a world that was once divided about how to deal with Iran’s nuclear program now stands as one. The regime is more isolated than ever before; its leaders are faced with crippling sanctions, and as long as they shirk their responsibilities, this pressure will not relent.

Is this part of the 2012 campaign?
