Obama Speech – Double Speak At It’s Finest

President Obama’s speech to the nation last night was a crass display of obfuscation and misdirection. First let’s get one thing straight. “Limited” combat operations are still going on  with U.S. troops ”assisting” and Iraqi’s “in the lead.” Suicide bombers and roadside bombs are a daily occurence. The so called government is still in flux with the only stability being in the north of Iraq in the Kurdish areas. Obama’s brave pronouncement of the first “free elections” was misleading. The first free elections in Iraq took place in 2005.  Moving on….

Afghanistan: That little gem is falling apart. The Karzai government is so corrupt that it will never be a stabilizing force in the this patch work country of feuding clans and narco- warlords. Our troops, as usual, are performing in an outstanding manner as is par for the course in the strongest and most modern military in the world. However, as has been mentioned by  Marine Commandant, General Conway, all in the field is not going well. The Taliban is re-emerging in previously held areas and more importantly what is not being reported is that the Taliban are now moving into the north of Afghanistan where we have the least military presence. Additionally Conway said in a television newscast last week that, “Intelligence intercepts suggest that Taliban fighters have been encouraged by the talk of the U.S. beginning to withdraw troops next year.”

Conway went on to comment on Obama’s public announcement that we would be leaving Afghanistan in 2011, (reported on NPR – National Public Radio)  ”In some ways, we think right now it’s probably giving our enemy sustenance,” Conway said of the 2011 deadline. “We think that he may be saying to himself … Hey, you know, we only have to hold out for so long.’” Also mentioned in that NPR report was that Conway also mentioned that, “It will likely be a few years before Afghanistan is secure enough for the U.S. Marines to leave “…. adding his voice to a growing chorus of military leaders warning of a long fight ahead. That said what plane of reality is this President dancing on?

Moving on, how about all those new jobs? Obama committed a major faux pas when he said American goods were fueling the global economy. How about that! Our manufacturing base is depleted and more companies are moving overseas or into Mexico’s “free economic zones” in order to escape those regulations and increased taxation that the Democrats are so fond of. From what I can see the only goods moving anywhere are coming from China and they are coming here. The reality is that in the sum total of the unemployment picture, over 18 percent of the country is unemployed when you count those workers who have given up looking for jobs, and there is no end in sight.

In summary: Obama’s vision for “changing” the economic and social structure of the U.S. is in shambles. He also is viewed in the field as not capable of wearing the mantle of Commander in Chief and according to those I know in the military, is held in contempt by not only most troops in the field but also by virtually of his field commanders. Yet with the stead fastness of any good socialist, he carries the fight forward, oblivious to the mounting destruction left in his wake. He assured us he could handle the load – instead the load has been dumped on us. Just my opinion.

    Iraq:
Hopefully our 50,000 men and women left behind, unable to fire weapons at the oncoming hoards, will not become cannon fodder to satisfy the insatiable one’s campaign promise. At some point soldiers will need to fire a weapon in self defense and when they do the ACLU and JAG will be there to prosecute. To pass the time these troops can build courthouses in which their court marshalls can be held.
    Afghanistan:
We’ve learned nothing from the Russian experience; Enough said.
    Economy:
The community organizer in chief never held a job, never ran a business, never balanced a checkbook. He scratches his head and asks in his patently dumbfounded way, “why ain’t businessses hiring, we have plenty of people lookin’ for work”. Hey bama’ , a business needs to have work for the people they hire. Uunlike the government businesses create goods and services and sell them, for a profit, pay employees, invest in their business and the cycle repeats itself. The government hires people, creates nothing, wastes taxpayer money, hire smore people, and the cycle repeats itself. Anyone who ran a lemonade stand in the 2nd grade understands how the marketplace functions. Maybe there were no lemonade stands in Kenya.

Good piece Bill. I couldn’t agree with you more. In his speech Obama gave virtually no credit to Bush on the Iraq war. Barry still came across with a burr up his butt because he was always against the war which he made certainly clear last night. The man oozes with arrogance. I can’t wait till he is gone in 2012.
