Raquel Rolnik, United Nations special rapporteur, meets New Yorkers at a town hall meeting on Thursday.
The United Nations has assigned an official, “a special rapporteur on the right to adequate housing,” to check the city’s affordable housing. The rapporteur, Raquel Rolnik, is to tour the city for the next three days with housing advocates and city officials to “hear the voices of those who are suffering on the ground.” (http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/23/special-rapportuer/) The investigation is being done with an eye towards criminal indictments, against land lords in New York, for prosecution in the International World Court.
Interestingly enough, (or not), Raquel Rolnik is from Sao Paulo Brazil. Anyone familiar with Brazil knows it is a hotbed of rampant corruption, poverty and crime. Ms. Rolnik’s country and the UN are the worst sort of hypocrites. In 1994, the Los Angeles Times ran an article that reported that at that time, over 200,000 children with no homes, lived in the streets, (http://articles.latimes.com/1994-08-03/news/mn-23003_1_homeless-children),where , where was the UN? Also ignored and coupled is the street children in Brazil who are murdered each week on a scale that is qualified as genocide. What is also not mentioned on this issue is the the UN has not investigated or reported the current statistics on homeless street children, at least not publicly. http://books.google.com/books id=RJNYZI405aIC&pg=PA120&lpg=PA120&dq=pictures+of+brazillian+street+children&source=bl&ots=MCuOUOpjRZ&sig=0EaY7CoGz3nIIfiTKkVQFZWlszE&hl=en&ei=XRHrSu-XDYvcsgPo6rDeCA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=11&ved=0CCoQ6AEwCg#v=onepage&q=&f=false
Brazil is just the tip of the iceberg. The Hilton Foundation quoting a 1994 WHO, (World Health Organization), report that there, (at that time), were over 100 million children living in the streets worldwide. In addition and contrary to the numbers reported in the LA Times article I mentioned, the WHO reported that in reality there were 2 million children living on the streets in Brazil in 1994. (http://www.hiltonfoundation.org/press/16-pdf3.pdf)
It is no secret that the UN is a club for third world dictators, thieves and criminals who are members of that organization because the U.S. Treasury supports their corruption. These sanctioned criminals spend their time demeaning the U.S. constantly while ignoring the poverty, crime and lack of housing in their own third world cesspools.
President Obama in his September trip, apologized in front of the UN General Assembly for the past neglect of the U.S. towards the rest of the world. I would deduce from his embarrassing behavior in front of that body that he encourages the UN’s denigration of our country; a cleansing of our national guilt so to speak. I would also think it would be safe to say that Obama will offer no protest to this hypocritical UN intrusion into our affairs. This, as a side bar, is just another indication of the contempt that Barack Obama has for our country. Just my opinion.

The u.n.’s complete name should be the united nations against America. How dare b.o. apologize for America’s neglect. We have sacrificed more and given more than any other country.
It’s past time to get rid of the u.n. and all the one worlders.
They should consider things like a free market economy, supply and demand, and democracy, too.
lack of affordable housing they investigate. Interesting focus considering the situation in Africa seems to have fallen into the abyss and the bullcrap lack of resolve with Iran tells me this little excursion into affordable housing is a shucking and jiving initiative.
While they are at it they might find out why everyone living in unaffordable housing here has direct tv, is overweight and wear $150.00 Michael Jordans. Then they can figure out a way to bring their poor, presently living in their streets, here and then they can investigate why these no-housing transferees can’t find affordable housing here even though they will be wearing $25.00 Yankee hats. Ever wonder why in their home countries they hate yankees but wear all the Yankees sports apparel here? And how come they don’t wear the Oakland Raiders and Chicago White Sox team wear anymore? What a fickle people…uhm uhm uhm
