Our supposed Commander in Chief took a few moments out of his busy perenial campaigning yesterday, to greet the 18 troops returning from Afghanistan in their G.I. issue aluminum boxes. Obama who is no fan of the military has no shame in displaying his hypocrisy.
It was reported yesterday and today, (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/28/obama-reportedly-eyeing-mcchrystal-light-plan-afghan-war-small-troop-boost/), that Obama is considering a partial troop deployment of perhaps 20,000 additional soldiers for Afghanistan instead of the 40,000 General McCrystal had asked for. The cute media term for this plan is “McCrystal light.” What garbage. This move is in contradiction to the Petraeus and McCrystal plan to effect a surge to drive the Taliban out of the countryside. The problem with Obama’s plan is that 8,000 of those troops are not going to be used in combat operations but as support personnel.
Obama in his ignorance is repeating what has been a failure in many military campaigns throughout history, a piecemeal deployment of troops that lack numbers to have a real effect in an aggressive offensive military campaign. This piecemeal deployment coupled with rotating unit deployments will create a log jam as well as dampen the moral of the in theater troops. But Obama doesn’t know or care, he has never been in the line of fire and doesn’t have a clue about military strategy. Obama is proving himself as an enabler of the enemy by disrespecting his field commanders recommendations to effect a proven battlefield strategy. The Taliban can smell Obama’s lack of political will and this no doubt is a comfort to them. With all of this being said it is beyond me how anyone would even entertain the thought that an anti-military socialist is fit to command our military. Just my opinion.

I think McChrystal gave a range from like 15,000 to 60,000 troops. I think Obama has delayed far too long on Afghanistan.
