The Wall Street Journal ran an article on Sunday, October 25, 2009, (this article since removed from their website), lauding the economic “boom” now occurring in El Paso, Texas as a result of the growing number of wealthy Mexicans fleeing the violence in Juarez, which is located just across the border. Now to the part of fools or being fools, whatever your preference.
What is not being mentioned here is that many of these “wealthy” Mexicans are in fact linked to the drug cartels. Restaurants and clubs have long been the favored venue for distributing drugs and hatching plots and conspiracies. The cartels use restaurants attached to bars and clubs for two reasons. Restaurants have no age restrictions as do the bars and clubs. Therefore minors usually not able to be served can slip into the clubs or simply buy drugs in the restaurants. The restaurants also make for great meeting places as the noise levels are usually sufficient to neutralize eavesdropping equipment. I know this from personal experience when I was involved in an undercover operation that was targeting dealers in Southern California. I will also say that not all of these establishments will be subject to these types of activities, but those that are not, will be extorted by those in control of the other venues. El Paso should get ready for not only increased drug use in their city, but corruption that will exceed anything they have so far experienced.
The San Antonio Express reported in 2008, that the former FBI Special Agent in Charge for El Paso had been indicted and convicted of being on the payroll of the Juarez cartel. What we need to be asking then is who is paying attention to the real boom coming to El Paso; the expansion of the Juarez La Famiglia Cartel and the corruption as well as increased vilolence that will follow. Bottom line, someone is making big bucks if this situation is not scrutinized and brought under control. Those businesses that are honest should be noted for their contribution to the local economy. Those who are a front for something else need be exposed and properly dealt with, unless it’s too late. Just my opinion.

Where I live, somewhere in the north east, the streets as well as bars and clubs are always open for business with no obvious interference from local police departments. Either that or the newspapers and electronic media find no news value in reporting all thoise many MS13 drug busts. MS 13, by the way, has the exclusive franchise rights to sell drugs in the schools here, both grammer and high schools. And where did I find this information? From a recently retired detective formerly in the county prosecutors office. I am willing to bet that almost anyone reading this may say, ” Craig must live in my town.” By the way, the name of my town is “Paradise Lost”.
YES, This is True and has been going on for a while now!
