“The most dangerous strategy is to jump a chasm in two leaps.”
Benjamin Disraeli
….And so it seems. …that apparently President Obama as we have seen these past few weeks - having no understanding that diplomacy must be backed by an iron fist, also seems totally bereft in grasping the realities of a military ground mission.
When Obama sent Gen. McCrystal to take charge in Afghanistan it seemed to most that maybe we might just have some sort of turning point in this disastrous adventure. McCrystal, a special ops kind of guy, wanted to focus a new strategy of counter-terrorism – taking out the bad guys and occupying areas once under Taliban control. However the caveat was that more troops would be needed; instead of taking action, this President and his politcal hack advisors are wringing their hands in confusion – as our troops continue to die….
Obama who initially backed the counter-terrorism strategy has now shown confusion, once again, on how to proceed. His naivete has turned combat troops into ambassadors of “feel good” and emasculated troops in the field further by limited air and artillery support to troops engaged in combat operations near civilian populations. The most disappointing part of this so called strategy for “hearts and minds,” is that McCrystal did not protest these inhibitions on our troops – proving that he is just as bad a political sycophant as the fools in the White House. This week’s new strategy is to address the corruption in Karzai’s government – as our troops continue to die….
Obama during his presidential campaign kept repeating that Afghanistan, unlike Iraq, was the “good war,” saying that if elected he would win that war and defeat the Taliban and Al Qaeda. What is now in play is his concern for his own political liability should he make a wrong decision. Obama is looking more and more like the hyperactive UPS dleivery guy on the Mad TV comedy show – bouncing around in confusion like an out of control ping pong ball – as our troops continue to die….
The truth of the matter is Obama is totally without a clue, his own committment is only to his own all encompassing ego - as our troops continue to die…. Just my opinion.

Bravo, well said on both accounts!!
This Afghanistan “thing” is turning out to be a real inconvenience to his domestic agenda. I think he thought he could throw a few more troops in there and everything would be ok. Apparently, he’s not used to people (like the bad guys) disregarding his image and going for their own plan.
Man, this presidency “thing” is probably turning out to be a lot harder than he must have thought, with the American people all like, “We don’t want socialism” and the economy all like tanking and like Ahmadenijad all like, “Screw you Chai boy, I’m making nukes anyway, go get me some more tea, Chai boy.” and Chavez all like looking for his own uranium and like Ghadaffi all like, “Haha, we got our terrorist back from the Scots and BTW, we took a giant crap on your furniture in the UN building, thanks for having us over.”
I think they should just post a big traffic light facing east on top of the White House that’s locked on green. Or better yet, since he’s such a great gift giver, he should send all the bad guys around the world a pair of Nikes (Just do it).

I do not believe he cares if we win or not. He and the hacks in the White House will blame it on Bush by saying they tried, but effort despite their attaempts to control the situation it was too late. I also believe he is trying to weaken us militarily so that we will not be strong enough for any military “adventurism” as the socialists like to call it. Regardless, this President is like a bad case of herpes – the only “valtrex” is the next election – it will stop his agenda but won’t cure it and there is no gaurantee that we won’t have another outbreak in the future.
