Obama and Middle East Peace – A Thin Distraction From Reality

Obama determined to see Mideast peace.  NPR-National Public Radio Online-from the AP Wire. Sunday, July 26, 2009. The article quoted President Obama’s Mideast Peace Envoy, former Senator George Mitchel who announced  the administration is determined to achieve a ‘truly comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace settlement.” Mitchel made that comment in Damascus, Syria after talking with Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

The article also alluded to the fact that George Bush and Assad had no love for each other, (Bush refused to negotiate with Assad, a backer of  fellow Bathist dictator Saddam Hussien and he, Assad, a sponsor of global terrorism.)

To anyone familiar with negotiating with Arabs, Obama is definately deluded, (as were those before him), in thinking he can negotiate peace between people who have been killing each other for thousands of years; you cannot broker peace between tribal cultures just because you wish it so. Those of us who have been in the Middle East and have worked with Arabs from the region,  know that peace is a pipe dream. Obama will fail in this attempt as have all before him.

I have pointed out that the President’s pushing forward with his peace initiatives in the region, is out of his depth, regardless of Mitchel’s familiarity with the issues and extensive experience in the region. The only reason Assad is willing to talk about “peace” with Israel, is to find an edge that will use the U.S. as a foil against Iran, Syria’s major contender for influence in the region. Conversly the only reason that the Israeli’s will participate in the charade is the  3 billion dollars a year of foreign aid, flowing to them from the  U.S.

All of this being said, Obama’s current initiative for peace in the Middle East is a calculated distraction from his defeat in getting Congress to pass his health care reform scam before the end of the current Congressional session. I don’t know who Obama thinks he is kidding with his thinly veiled attempts at distraction - but his arrogance in believing he is smarter than anyone else, is wearing thin.  Just my opinion.

Old pants suit has again illustrated why she should have been president.
This snippet comes from an AP wire story today: “The U.S. administration has given Iran a vague deadline of September to respond positively to the outreach or face stiffened sanctions. But U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton acknowledged recently that the election turmoil appears to have paralyzed decision-making on the U.S. offer.”

“I don’t think they have any capacity to make that kind of decision right now,” Clinton said.

So Hillary, are you a blathering imbecile or are you carrying the water for your sometimes master, The Obamanator? The real question I’m asking is this: Are you blowing on your own whatever advantage we may have gained during this Iranian upheaval or is Hawaii five-0 pulling your strings?

No matter who they send, what they propose, whatever cultural indulgences and and epicurean delights and appeasance they indulge or the wine they drink, none of this matters.

The character and presence they bring will set the standard of nothing They have been observed ten miles out by the Middle East icons, whose only conversation will be neutralization of Israel.

The Democrats, specifically Clinton during the 1990s, and now his wife who was astoundingly placed in a position poised to be the first human Lusitania, have a new impotence in Obama and Hillary, and the optempo of the usual suspects the world over attests to a green light for chaos.
