U.S. Governors Resisting Obama’s Health Care Bill

Governors Critical of Health Care Bill.  FoxNews.com – Live Shots, Mondy, July 20, 2009, by Serafin Gomez. Biloxi, Mississippi – “On the third day of their annual meeting, governors from both parties raised concerns over the health care bill being pushed by Democrats in Washington D.C.”

The issue at hand is that what the feds are proposing with this bill is “unmandated funding,” which means the feds, not the states, will dictate the program and the states, not the feds must pay for that program – simply put, the Obama administration wants to dictate health care policy to the states without having any financial liability. The main point of contention by most of these governors is that they do not have the funds on hand and are not in any position to pass that cost, (higher taxes), on to  their citizens, in this unhealthy economy.

I would look at it another way which is not being mentioned – abrogation of states rights. The federal government, (or if you will - Obama’s socialist administration), does not have the right, (as I interpret it ), under the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution to force states to pay for increases in the proposed health care bill. The consensus seems to be, if the feds want health care reform,  then let them pay for it.  The problem with this tact is that the Obama administration will have to increase federal taxes on individuals and providers to pay for their flawed program. Obama it appears,( at this point-anyway), does not have a mandate to dictate to states Chavista style- another words he doesn’t yet have the ability to force unfunded socialist government on the states – tough luck Barak – keep it up and with luck you can drive yourself, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the elitist left-wingers out of office.  Just my opinion.
