Iraq – U.S. Troop Restrictions – Followup

Comment – Opinion.  On Saturday, July 18 past, I wrote an article, “Iraqi Govt. Restricting Our Troops.”   The following is an update:  U.S. Defense Officials Reject Iraqi Colonel’s Claim that U.S. Troops Live in “Prison Like Bases.”  FoxNews.com, Monday, July 20, 2009. Col. Ali Fadhil, a brigade commander in Baghdad, said Monday that American combat troops….cannot patrol as freely as they did prior to the completion of the June 30 pullback outside of urban areas.  Fadhil also told the Associated Press, Saturday, July 18, 2009….”I also feel that….the American soldiers are in prison-like bases as if they are under house arrest.”… according to the Washington Post, Saturday, July 18, 2009, the security agreement has resulted in different interpretations….(which)….have led to standoffs in which Iraqi soldiers have prevented American convoys from passing through checkpoints.

Now that the elites in Washington have tired of the blood spill of American troops – they can now ignore them. Defence Secretary Robert Gates needs to tell his anti-military boss to pull our troops out. If the Iraqi’s are so prepared to take over their own internal military security – let them do so. If this situation is not rectified what little morale and confidence these soldiers have in this weakling feel good administration – will be gone.

One last insult: The corrupt Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki is going to visit Arlington Cemetery this weekend and you can bet Obama and his leftist toadies will be on hand to welcome him – what a disgrace to our war dead.   Just my opinion.
