Obama Administration To Crackdown On Illegal Immigrant Workers. (Washington Post, Wednesday, July 8, 2009, by Cam Simpson.) “The Obama administration said….it would move forward with a Bush-era program, (E-verify), on illegal immigrant workers and their employers….the Obama administration had, (previously – as a campaign promise to their Hispanic constituency), delayed implementation of that program….The announcement was made just before a scheduled Senate vote on a Republican amendment for the Department of Homeland Security’s budget that would mandate permanent implementation for government contractors.” (E-verify is a government run electronic data-base fact checking system, that verifies whether or not social security, green card or visa documentation is fraudulent.)
The truth on this particular issue is that Obama suspended the program with the intent of getting rid of it. This current move was in response to prevent a permanent implementation of that program, under the Republican amendment in the Homeland Security budget. I have no doubt that the Obama administration will eventually to find a way to cancel E-verify program should the “great leader” be re-elected in 2012.
If given the chance I would ask Obama why are you in favor of keeping those people, (illegal-immigrant workers), who have displaced so many American workers in the construction, retail and hospitality industries? My guess is his answer would be crafted by some policy wonk and read back to me from a teleprompter. Just my opinion.
