All Those Little Things Add Up

Comment – Opinion.  President Obama promised change – that little statement is meant to imply the arrival of something new in the governance of America.  Obama’s program of government control of the economy has been tried before, and failed.  Angela Merkel the German Prime Minister has remarked that Obama’s spending policies and attempted plan for the government to control the American economy is foolish, (during his self promoting European tour in May),  this from an over taxed  liberal socialist country. On a recent trip to England I attended a session of Parliament where the argument by the Labor Party Leader Gorden Brown – for increased stimulus, (which like that in the  U.S. , is not working), was even  being rejected by members of his own socialist labor party as well as by the Tories, (conservatives.)

The big problem with Obama is that he is a theorist who has no background in finance and economics, (and seems to be incapable of grasping the fact that his ideas are time worn failures.)  Obama like Bush, is giving the oil speculators free reign to fleece the American public with high gasoline prices while at the same time trying to implement “clean energy” programs that will cause more and more Americans to lose their jobs –  the claim this direction will create more jobs, is a lie;  green energy is more expensive and much less labor intensive. The “cap in trade” program passed by Congress will cost more jobs as industries that cannot afford to implement the changes outlined in the program, will shut down and close, putting more Americans out of work.

The GAO, (Government Accounting Office), which is under the Congress, (and considered the most objective government agency), is being ignored by Obama despite them telling him that his spending policies are unsustainable and will be disastrous down the road. I am firmly beginning to believe that more than anything else, that there is a character flaw in play with Obama  who is showing himself to be too self absorbed to grasp the realities of the flaws inherent in his outdated political and economic philosophies. We can also add to this the charade of “national health care” which is not about giving everyone universal health care but about the government controling  the health care system and using it as a tool for controlling the populace.  Just my opinion.
