Gates Grilled on Moving Detainees. (Wall Street Journal – World, May 1, 2009, by Yochi Dreazen). Defense Secretary Robert Gates added fuel to the growing controversy over the future of (the Guantonomo terrorists)….telling lawmakers on Thursday that dozens held there might, (read will), be moved to the continental U.S……Gates testifying before the Senate Appropriations Committee, said the Pentagon wants 50 million dollars in case it needs to construct a prison facility on American soil to house as many as 100 Guantanamo detainees, (terrorists), who couldn’t be brought to trial or released…..The remarks drew criticism from several of the lawmakers who made it clear that they don’t want the men transferred to their states….Sen. Sam Brownback, (R – Kan.), said leaders of several Muslim nations told him they would stop sending military officers to Fort Leavenworth for professional training if the detainees were incarcerated there.
There are several important factors to consider. If these prisoners are tried in civilian courts they will have access to discovery motions which would reveal what little classified information there is left, placing more of our intelligence people in danger than already have been as a result of Obama’s misguided, (read also clueless), policy.
The absurd assertions of the liberals and their fellow travelers, (the fringe left), has led to a Supreme Court ruling that gives terrorists habeas corpus rights. The people who cry tears over these murdering animals have evidently, (as I have previously written), never been terrorized or faced personal danger. …those of us who have can tell you that these fools would have a different outlook if they had…..which leads us to another point. In that it is evident that most of those on the far left fringe, are politically motivated in an effort to embarrass Bush, (least we forget,) who should have resolved this situation with a little more back bone when he had the chance. Obama owes his presidency not to the far left clueless or the corrupt and ignorant ACORN constituency, but to the independent middle class voter who on this issue do not agree with him.
In summary, when the terrorists finally arrive, any facility built should be placed in either Obama’s home district of Chicago, Pelosi’s home district of San Francisco, or better yet, in Chuck Shumers’s district in New York. They would then be able to visit and chat with Al Sharpton, who with his contacts, could arrange conjugal visits – wouldn’t that be nice? I was also thinking that another advantage, (for the terrorists), of a facility in New York, is that it would lend access to Muslim spies and terrorists who inhabit the good old U.N. headquarters and would be able to visit their buddies at the facility! One last thought, doesn’t Atty General Holder’s law firm have offices in New York? If so then they could add on to their client list of the 17 terrorists they already represent.
