Scientists see flu strain as relatively mild. (Los Angeles Times – Front Page, April 30, 2009, by Karen Kaplan anmd Alan Zarembo). As the World Health Organization raised it’s infectious disease alert level Wednesday….scientists studying the virus are coming to the consensus that this hybrid strain of influenza – at least in it’s current form – isn’t shaping up to be as fatal as the strains that caused some previous pandemics……In fact, the current outbreak of the H1N1 virus, which emerged in San Diego and southern Mexico late last month, may not even do as much damage as the run of the mill flu outbreaks that occur each winter without much fanfare.
The above lead, in a much too long article, concludes as have I , (having had a cold flu a few weeks ago – no I did not travel to the fourth world down south, though I did eat at a McDonalds with a full non-English speaking staff), that this is much ado, (ado a real word ), about nothing. Watching the CDC briefing this morning on Fox News, the acting director of the CDC said that as many as 30,000 people a year die from the flu – yet here we are with 91 deaths reported in the U.S. as of last night and we have V.P. Biden telling us to lockdown and not travel on planes, trains and automobiles, (which he can say that because he rides around in a limousine and flies in private government jets).
Looking at this orchestrated hysteria progressing forward each day I keep wondering to myself, who is profiting from all of this? Certainly not the economy if fools like Biden tell everyone to stay home, (though this however is a bonanza for the hypochondriacs and those workers who call off sick from work, on a regular basis). Anyway..sigh…sit tight with a smirk and a healthy dose of cynisicm as the days roll on…and if you do get sick drink plenty of fluids, etc, etc.
